The Office of Mainland Affairs (OMA) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) invites applications for the position of Assistant Manager (Special Projects). We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to support the daily operation of the Alliance of Open Life Science. The Alliance of Open Life Science is a cross-regional, non-profit coalition which champions UNESCO’s Open Science principles, advocating openness, collaboration, exchange, and synergy to collectively advance life science research, and eventually human health and well-being. This role is ideal for a proactive professional looking to contribute to our mission and grow within a supportive and impactful environment.

Key Responsibilities:

As a valued member of our team, the Assistant Manager will be involved in:

  • Administration Coordination: Assist with the administrative and secretarial tasks to ensure the smooth daily operation of the Alliance of Open Life Science. This includes preparing reports, budgets, and meeting materials. Additionally, assist in maintaining and updating the website and related social media platforms, ensuring that all content is accurate, relevant, and timely.
  • Project Support: Support the preparation, coordination, and daily operations of the ongoing projects hosted by the office, handling related logistical and administrative work.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the office’s broader mission and objectives.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Relevant post-qualification experience in project management, with a preference for candidates who have substantial experience.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

(Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
