Home Instead Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Wem is recruiting caring, reliable people to support older adults in their own homes during school holidays. This is flexible, meaningful work with minimum 1-hour visits — giving you time to provide proper, person-centred support and companionship.

Perfect if you want short-term, flexible work that genuinely makes a difference.

Who This Role Is Ideal For

This school holiday role particularly suits:

  • Parents and carers available while children are off school

  • Students home from college or university

  • Teaching assistants and school staff on break

  • People with flexible or seasonal availability

  • Anyone wanting to try care work before committing longer term

No previous care experience is required.

This position requires reliable local travel between client visits, so applications are invited from candidates living within our immediate service area only.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

Provide practical support and companionship, including:

  • Companionship and conversation

  • Personal care and daily routines

  • Medication prompts/support (where required)

  • Mobility support and short outings

  • Meal preparation and light household tasks

All visits are planned and supported by the office team.

Qualifications

Training & Development — No Experience Needed

You’ll be fully supported with:

  • Paid induction and mandatory training

  • Shadowing with experienced Care Professionals

  • Ongoing support and supervision

  • Option to continue beyond school holidays if you enjoy the role

  • Pathways into accredited Dementia and End of Life Care training

  • Support towards recognised Health & Social Care qualifications

Additional Information

Pay & Benefits

  • £12.60 – £13.60 per hour (higher rates with completed NVQ levels)

  • Paid travel and wait time

  • 35p per mile mileage
