Senior/Associate Data Analytics Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data pipelines and Analytics Engineer to join Data Warehouse Team. His or her role is mainly to liaise with different parties to support troubleshooting and problem solving of all Business Intelligence/Data warehouse related issues and improvement area of ETL pipelines and data warehouse architecture. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of dependencies and relationships of all upstream and downstream systems related to data warehouses.

Job Duties

• Translate Data Pipeline and Analytics requirements into analytics model and data pipeline design, guide and direct the design by working closely with a range of stakeholders including the rest of the architecture team, external developers, data consumers, data providers, and internal/external business users.
• Contribute to use case development, e.g. workshop to gather and validate business requirements. Align expectations from different stakeholders to streamline, expedite and solve any complaints and queries from clients. Experience of Project Management and Business Transformation in Financial and Insurance Industries is an advantage.
• Model and design the ETL pipeline data structure, storage, integration, integrity check and reconciliation. Standardize all exception control and ensure good traceability during trouble shooting.
• Document and write technical specifications for the function and non-functional requirements of the solution.
• Design data model/platform allowing managed growth of the data model to minimize risk and cost of change for a large-scale data platform.
• Analyze new data sources with structured Data Quality Evaluation approach and work with stakeholders to understand the impact of integrating new data into existing pipelines and models.
• Bridge the gap between business requirements and ETL logic by troubleshooting data discrepancies and implementing scalable solutions.

Education / Qualification

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in project management, business management, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or related field.

Skills / Knowledge

• Strong technical understanding of data quality metrics, data modelling, design and architecture principles and techniques across master data, transaction data and data warehouse.
• Experience with Stored Procedure (e.g. Oracle PL/SQL) and SQL DDL/DML.
• Hadoop, Python, Java Spring boot, docker or OCP skill are advantages.
• Experience in Power BI tool with usage of data objects, report objects, and service objects in different scenarios.
• Experience in Star Scheme and Snowflake design and dimensional modelling
• Knowledge with Power BI and/or SSAS Row level security
• Experience to use JSON API data service for rendering Power BI report
• Knowledge with Power Query M script is an advantage
• Strong Power BI skill with SSAS multi-dimensional model as data source
• Migration of Power BI data model to SSAS data model is best practice.
• SSAS model change version control and deployment across different testing environments and production.
• Performance monitoring and management of Power BI servers and SSAS servers.
• Proficient in both spoken and written English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese).
• Proactive with good problem solving and multitasking skills

Working Experience

• At least 5+ years of IT experience with 2-years in data migration, business intelligence and/or data warehouse pipelines projects.
• At least 3-year experience with Oracle or SQL Server SQL development.
• Consider as Associate Engineer role for less experience.
