Job Description

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a high-caliber Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our elite engineering team.  Based in Alexandria, VA, you will be the lead mechanical architect for new business captures, transforming mission requirements into ruggedized, high-performance hardware solutions.

 

This role is not just about CAD; it’s about defining the mechanical "win strategy." You will lead the design of enclosures, cooling systems, and integrated platforms for C5ISR, unmanned systems, and electronic warfare applications.

 

This position supports an on-going proposal.  When the proposal is awarded, HII will seek to hire for this position immediately.  

Essential Job Responsibilities

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working as a Mechanical Engineer in a commercial environment (May be inclusive with experience working as an Mechanical Engineer) 
  • Experience working with other development contractors and trades to include non-traditional applications 
  • Experience implementing Building Automation and System Controls 
  • Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam 
  • Experience utilizing 3-dimensional drafting such tools such as CAD, Solidworks, and Revit 
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance w/Poly

Preferred Requirements

  • Possess a Professional Engineering license (PE) 
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams 
  • Proficiency with electrical industry best practices, regulations, and safety standards 
  • Previous experience working on large teams 

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
