About this role

The Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, School of Health Sciences, High Point University is seeking an innovative, dynamic individual for a full-time Research Assistant position (40 hours per week) working on a specific research grant focused on choline kinase and obesity or choline kinase and diabetes.

RESPONSIBILITY: The Research Assistant will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator in charge of the research grant, completing components of research project(s). 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The Research Assistant reports directly to the Principal Investigator in charge of the research grant.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND AUTHORITY:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Ability to carry out cell culture under direction of Principal Investigator.

  • Ability to perform western blot technique under direction of Principal Investigator.

  • Ability to carry out enzymological work to identify effective choline kinase inhibitors and identify the pathways downstream of choline kinase that have a relationship with the above diseases, under direction of Principal Investigator.

  • Ability to assist in the general preparation of reagents under direction of Principal Investigator.
