Job Title: Systems Accountant

Directly Reports to: Country Finance Manager.
JOB SUMMARY
The role is responsible for the effective management, development, and optimisation of the organisation’s financial systems. Working closely with software providers, IT, finance teams, and senior stakeholders, the postholder oversees system design, upgrades, and new implementations, ensuring robust controls, data integrity, and operational efficiency. The role supports business decision-making through improved reporting, system-driven processes, and the elimination of offline financial data, while promoting strong governance, risk management, and continuous improvement across financial operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Working with the software providers (Touchstone UK) to design delivery schedules of systems development.
- Reviewing systems performance and identifying system issues.
- Managing system upgrades with the IT department.
- Oversee the implementation of new systems (the Inventory solutions to be deployed etc).
- Designing and implementing internal system controls (preventative and detective) to provide quality assurance over financial data.
- Reviewing and maintaining all financial systems policies and procedures.
- Collaborating with IT and financial staff to meet business requirements.
- Troubleshooting and fixing finance related system issues.
- Training and supporting finance team members in the use of financial systems and procedures.
- Writes and updates procedures for the department’s administrative systems; prepares specifications on system modifications and enhancements.
- Work with the head of finance, and budget holders to design and develop both internal and external management reports to better inform the business.
- To work to eliminate all financial offline information.
- To instil a culture of robust control and efficiency throughout the business and liaise closely with the risk and governance department.
- Oversight management of designated SubCom to ensure reconciliation, document filing and readiness for performance.
- Manage external partner audits in association with Finance, prepare response to audit information requests and findings relating to technical function.
- Support the function to prepare and defend annual budget, cash call and Expenditure. Participate in budget realignment exercise.
- Prepare value driven budget performance report/ management information and organised regular cost review meetings with budget holders to identify and discuss gaps as well as opportunities to improve budgetary control.
QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent related field
Minimum of 5 years’ industry related experience with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
