Job Summary:
The Finishing Operator will be responsible for finishing machined parts by setting up and operating manual and/or computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining all quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment/supplies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reading blueprints, specifications, and drawings
- Setting up various machines including tools changes and offsets, compensation and conditional switches
- Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturers instructions
- Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces while adhering to standards
- Maintaining specifications by observing and taking measurements
- Troubleshoot machine malfunctions, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Documenting actions by completing production and quality logs
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publication, etc.
- Communicating status of work orders and irregularities
- Explore opportunities to add value in work area
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding work order, blueprints, control plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, critical surfaces/edges, and machining parameters while interpreting geometric dimension and tolerances (GD&T)
- Understanding work instructions ad zero/reference points
- Understanding of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
- Positive and proactive attitude toward completing work orders
- Willingness to learn and grow through Sun Hydraulics
- Meeting commitments and obligations
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Technical college degree preferred
- 2+ years' experience using production machinery
- Experience working with a Mazak Star/Integrex or Swiss Lathes a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing
- Prolonged period of sitting
- Ability to lift 50 pounds at times
