About this role

We are recruiting for an experienced and commercially minded professional to join our Senior Leadership Team as a Landfill Manager, based in Victoria.

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Heidelberg Materials Australia’s highest-performing Operations. The role is responsible for the profitable operation and strategic development of our landfill business across the Southern Region, including the ownership and operation of the Wollert landfill, known for its exceptional standards and community engagement.

With a strong compliance foundation already in place, this role allows you to focus on optimisation, long-term development, and risk-managed growth. You will sit as part of the Southern Region senior leadership team, with genuine influence over strategy, capital planning, and future expansion.

The role is primarily Wollert-based, with flexibility to work from our Doncaster office as required.

High impact. Industry Leading.
These roles don’t come up often.

This is a senior operational leadership position, well suited to someone who reflects our company values of Care, Collaboration and Ownership, and who is comfortable operating in a highly regulated, technically complex environment.

In your new role, you will:

  • Lead the safe, efficient and compliant operation of landfill assets across the Southern Region
  • Drive the strategic development of landfill operations in partnership with the Regional General Manager
  • Ensure full compliance with EPA, legislative, licence and permit requirements
  • Manage consultants, contractors and tender processes to deliver best value outcomes
  • Oversee landfill cell development, airspace planning and long-term site sustainability
  • Identify and manage long-term environmental and operational risks, including leachate, odour and cover management
  • Prepare and manage operating budgets, capital expenditure submissions and post audits
  • Set pricing strategies to maximise market opportunities and customer outcomes
  • Recruit, lead and develop employees and contractors to achieve high performance and safety standards
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, regulators, customers and industry bodies

This role is a great fit for you if you have:

  • Proven experience in a senior management role within the landfill industry
  • Strong technical capability, ideally with a civil engineering background
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants and complex operational sites
  • A strong understanding of environmental regulation and compliance frameworks
  • Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen
  • The ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders and manage risk effectively

What we offer:

You will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of Heidelberg Materials’ landfill operations. You’ll be part of a growing global organisation that thinks local, values expertise, and invests in long-term capability and career development.
