The Blaster Helper supports the certified blaster in the safe preparation, loading, and execution of underground blasts in a limestone mining environment. This position is safety-sensitive and requires strict adherence to MSHA regulations, site-specific blasting plans, and company safety policies. The Blaster Helper assists with drilling support, explosive handling (under direct supervision), ventilation awareness, and blast area control.
What You'll Be Doing
Assist with loading of holes with explosives, preparation and detonation of explosives.
Work from a man basket at heights of 25' up to 50' performing hand scaling, markup of drilling/bolting patterns and face loading activities.
Use a variety of hand and power tools.
Handle and transport explosives safely.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections of blasting equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
Support the blasting team with various tasks as needed.
Work toward obtaining PA Blasting license.

Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
Ability to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms background check
Position requires regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
Work Environment
Role operates primarily in an underground mine where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment and elevated noise level.
