About this role

Under the direction of the Director, Department Manager, and supervisor the RN will assess, perform, document and evaluate professional independent nursing practice and perform related duties below:

  • Confirms scheduled date and time of surgery with the patient or designated caregiver
  • Admits patient to the perioperative area, assess patient and prepares the patient for surgery/planned procedure
  • Receives and monitors the patient’s condition post procedure per PACU, SDS and SDEX orders
  • Works collaboratively with surgeons and anesthesia team to assure safe, timely emergence for anesthesia
  • Effectively communicates discharge instructions with patients and families for their post- operative care after discharge
  • Other duties as assigned

Work schedule: 

This is a 0.875 FTE (70 hours per pay period) with 10-hour shifts, starting between 10:30 AM and12:30 PM. Position includes on-call responsibilities every fourth weekend. Additionally, the role requires coverage of one night holiday per year.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing 
  • Two (2) years of progressive care nursing experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse with the State of Minnesota 
  • BLS Certification upon hire
  • ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire
  • ICU experience STRONGLY preferred
