Role: Senior Staff Nurse - Paediatric Neuro-rehab & Complex Care 

Location: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children  

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Monday-Sunday (long days, nights & weekends)

Salary: £Competitive + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

We’re looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join the Paediatric Neuro-rehab & Complex Care team at the Portland Hospital. Currently rated “Good” by the CQC, the Portland Hospital is UK’s only private hospital dedicated to the healthcare needs of women and children.

As a Senior Staff Nurse working within our Paediatric Neurorehabilitation and Complex Care Inpatient Ward you’ll play a key role in the smooth operation of the department. We’ll look to you as an expert in your field to support and mentor the junior nurses, using your in-depth clinical knowledge to guide and support them while also stepping up and leading the unit the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse.

It’s a varied role. One day you could be implementing and evaluating holistic care plans for children in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team, the next participating in audits or quality improvement projects to continually improve the care we provide. What you’ll bring: 

  • NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support 

  • Experience working within Paediatric Neurorehabilitation and complex care needs (essential)

  • Experience of supervising and assessing students and shift leading is essential (essential)

  • Experience with tracheostomised patients is desirable.

  • Understanding of Safeguarding issues 

  • Teaching and mentoring experience 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication 

  • Excellent clinical governance and experience with audits
