About this role

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care and support under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Assists patients with daily living activities, maintains a safe and clean environment, and supports the overall functioning of the unit. Works with patients of varying ages and cultural backgrounds in alignment with Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s mission and values

  • Provide respectful assistance with daily living tasks to help patients maintain dignity and physical well-being, which supports their ability to participate meaningfully in recovery.
  • Accurately observe and record patient behavior and vital signs to ensure timely clinical responses, reducing risk and improving treatment outcomes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols, which minimizes health risks and promotes patient trust and comfort.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to behavioral health emergencies to prevent escalation and ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and shared understanding, which enhances treatment effectiveness and team cohesion.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a state approved Nursing Assistant training program
  • Current Nursing Assistant certification (CNA)
  • CPR Certification
    • Certification must be from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Must satisfactorily pass a state/license specific background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in behavioral health setting
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Screened Medication Assistant Certification
