Under the direction of a registered pharmacist prepare sterile compounds in various dosage forms following proper aseptic techniques, department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and the most current USP guidelines. Follows specific formulations to compound sterile products including both hazardous (e.g. chemo therapy medications) and nonhazardous (e.g. IV medications) to ensure the appropriate dosage form is available to meet the needs of patients
Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
• 6 months experience as a Pharmacy Technician at Hartford Healthcare
• Or, one (1) year experience as a Sterile Products Technician at another facility.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
• Nationally certified as a Pharmacy Technician by an accepted certification board.
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Connecticut within 30 days of hire.
