About this role

Work Shift:

Evening - 12 Hour (United States of America)11:00am - 11:00pm (36 Weekly Hours)

Provides patient care under the supervision of the Staff Nurse to include but not limited to assisting with ADLs specimen collection, transportation of patients, patient preparation for procedures, collection of vital signs and unit specific procedures and tasks which require documented competencies. Responsible for fulfillment of Emory Healthcare mission, values, and quality commitment. Participates as a team member to ensure appropriate resources are available to all internal and external customers.

Education & Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate of an approved State
Technical College program in patient care assisting, licensed practical nursing,
emergency medical technician or paramedic or currently enrolled in and
participating in the clinical portion of a nursing degree program. Education/training (except for HS diploma or GED equivalent) may be waived
with experience listed below.

Experience:
Two (2) years’ experience as a patient care tech (or similar title) in a hospital.
Hospital experience may be substituted with Two (2) years patient care assisting experience in other health care facilities and a GA Certified Nursing Assistant certification or Two (2) years’ experience as a medical technician or hospital corpsman in the U.S. Armed Forces. Current enrollment in clinical portion of a nursing program eliminates experience requirement.

Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. Completion of the Rhythm Interpretation
Course CLEP test or classroom course or obtained within 3 months. Current
PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization) or
obtained within (9) nine months of hire. CPT training within 9 months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Medical terminology, hospital professional services, documentation and various
departmental responsibilities, anatomy & physiology, infection control, vital
signs, medical records (charting and obtaining health histories), assistance with
physical exams, specimen collection, patient focused care, dressing changes
(clean & sterile).
