POSITION TITLE:                                       Emergency Medical Technician-EMT 

DEPARTMENT:                                            Finance-Risk Management 

GRADE/FLSA STATUS:                              H11—Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO:                                               Supervisor, Risk Management

JOB SUMMARY:

To enforce policy and control procedures, to provide a safe and pleasurable environment for guests and employees.    To provide care to the best of their abilities, within the scope of their training, and until such time it is no longer needed or until relieved by Cherokee EMS personnel.  Responsible for safety patrols and immediately reporting unsafe conditions. Member of the Safety Team.

 

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Establish and endorse the business objectives, ethics, and values of Caesars Entertainment in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision and Values

  2. Responsible for responding to emergency situations, providing first aid and/or basic lifesaving treatment to guests and employees when required, within limits of certification and arranging transport when necessary

  3. Provide and maintain service standards to guests and employees as set by department SOP

  4. Work closely with surveillance and security

  5. Work closely with Cherokee Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

  6. Patrol parking lot/garage and report unsafe conditions

  7. Patrol all BOH, FOH areas and report unsafe conditions

  8. Enter work orders for observable hazard repair

  9. Responsible for filing reports on safety, OSHA, and any other incident of liability

  10. Responsible for collection, logging, and destruction of found medications

  11. Complete all required checklists for inventory and inspections of supplies and equipment 

  12. Notifies a risk management supervisor of any problems with equipment or low inventory

  13. Conduct oneself professionally and in accordance with all property regulations

  14. Responsible for inspections and proper storage of department EMS equipment (oxygen tanks, AEDs, etc.)

  15. Disinfects and maintains cleanliness of EMS equipment, supplies and treatment areas per the daily assignments

  16. Maintain an inventory of medical supplies used to ensure departmental medical supply needs are met

  17. Check and replace full sharps containers located throughout the property

  18. Recommend to guests/employees to seek medical treatment by a physician and/or medical facility if necessary

  19. Will not recommend treatments or medications to guests or employees

  20. Complete all duty-associated documents in a complete and timely manner

  21. Demonstrate proficiency in report writing and thorough documentation of medical calls

  22. Collect evidence, documentation, and information necessary for associated reports

  23. Investigate and coordinate all fact-finding activities for employee injuries, customer injury or loss, and all property damage and loss incidents

  24. Provide property leaders at all levels assistance to provide a safe and productive environment for associates

  25. Active member of the safety team

  26. Assist with red light, vehicle incidents with potential injury, domestic altercations and report suspicious activity

  27. Complete employee drug tests when necessary

  28. Assist with employee evaluation for suspected intoxicant

  29. Responsible for Biohazard disposal (cards, dice, sharps)

  30. Represent Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos to external organizations, peers, and employees when necessary

  31. Attend con-ed training through Tribal EMS each quarter or as needed

  32. Required to have the ability to perform all the duties of an Emergency First Responder in addition to tasks that are assigned by the risk management leadership or EMS

  33. Additional duties as assigned 

  34. Participative member of the team by volunteering and being involved in projects, committees, and task forces by providing input and suggestions

  35. Proactive with incidents and issues ensuring resolution with employees or guests

  36. Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner

     

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED required

  2. Valid driver’s license required with no more than one (1) DUI convictions or 3 or more moving violations, 3 or more traffic citation convictions in the past 3 years (from date of conviction) or conviction for suspension or conviction for at fault accident within the last 3 years required

  3. Certified as an EMT (or higher) through the state of North Carolina or National Registry required

  4. Current CPR/AED certification required

  5. Successful completion of the Security Basic Officer Course required*

  6. Six months to one-year previous customer experience preferred

  7. Three months previous experience as a First Responder, EMT or higher preferred

  8. Six months to one year experience in insurance, loss control & safety or related field preferred

 

*Can be completed within six months of hire date

 

Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:

  • Must be able to read and comprehend all necessary documentation, training materials and SOP information

  • Must be able to communicate courteously, effectively, and professionally with guests and all levels of team members

  • Must be able to use tools and equipment such as radios, computers, and other equipment specific to the position

  • Complete knowledge of all emergency procedures

  • Excellent attendance in previous positions

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, fire code preferred

  • Willing to learn and be adaptable

  • Attention to detail/observant

  • Comfortable under surveillance

  • Able to wear a radio earphone

  • Handle bodily fluids and possibly hazardous situations

  • Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene

  • Maintain all required certifications, with no lapses in certification, for current level held

  • Maintain continuing education required for certification level held

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  1. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance, 150 pounds with assistance

  2. Must be able to be on feet/stand for extended periods of time

  3. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist and grasp items

  4. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues

  5. Must be able to use an earpiece/headset and other communication methods 

  6. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

  7. Must be able to maneuver in all areas of the casino and hotel

  8. Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations

  9. Must be able to assist sick or injured guests or team members

  10. Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality including secondhand smoke

  11. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
