We partner with leading construction companies and architectural design firms to bring signage visions to life—from concept to installation. Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and reliable Shop Maintenance & Facilities Assistant to ensure our Houston manufacturing facility remains a clean, safe, and efficient environment. This role is the backbone of shop safety, responsible for the continuous removal of production debris and the organization of the workspace. The ideal candidate has an "eye for detail," understands the importance of a clean shop for high-quality paint and fabrication work, and is comfortable working in an active industrial setting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Shop Maintenance Assistant manages the physical environment of the shop to support all production departments: Debris Management & Safety: Regularly clear metal shavings, acrylic scraps, and sawdust from fabrication areas to prevent slip/trip/fall hazards. Ensure walkways and emergency exits are always unobstructed. Floor & Station Upkeep: Sweep and mop shop floors daily; utilize industrial shop-vacs for dust mitigation in the sanding, routing, and wood-shop areas. Specialized Area Support: Assist in maintaining the paint booth environment by cleaning filters, clearing overspray, and ensuring the area is free of dust that could contaminate finishes. Waste & Material Organization: Empty industrial trash bins throughout the day. Assist in sorting and organizing recyclable scrap materials (aluminum, steel, and acrylic) to maximize shop efficiency. Tool & Supply Organization: Maintain "5S" standards by ensuring tools are returned to designated areas and supplies are stocked for the fabrication teams. Facility Reporting: Identify and report any facility maintenance issues (leaks, electrical concerns, or equipment malfunctions) to the Shop Lead immediately. QualificationsEducation and Experience Experience: Proven background in industrial cleaning, construction site cleanup, or warehouse maintenance is required. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with a manufacturing environment and the handling of industrial waste/scraps is highly preferred. Reliability: A track record of consistent attendance and the ability to work the standard shop schedule (e.g., 7:00 AM start) is required. Safety Mindset: Working knowledge of basic PPE (safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and dust masks) and a commitment to shop safety protocols. Physical Requirements Listed below are key points regarding environmental and physical demands of the job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Moving across a concrete shop floor for prolonged periods (8+ hours per day). Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers to operate cleaning equipment and hand tools. Regularly lifting, pushing, or moving items up to 50lbs. Normal setting for this job is an industrial shop environment that is not climate-controlled (exposure to heat/cold/dust).
