General Position Summary

This position is responsible to prepare and compile documents required by federal government on brokerage compliance issues. 

 

Essential Job Functions

 

CUSTOMS 

 


·         Manages and coordinates customs clearance activities in the RLF Dept.

·         Ensures all policies and procedures are consistently administered.

·         Involves in hiring and training practices as needed

·         Ensure SOP’s exist for all clients and processes in the department

·         Ensure that personnel are properly trained and equipped with the knowledge to maintain a compliant environment

·         Performs role of subject matter expert when communicating with customers in a variety of settings

·         Manage Customs Coordinators in Department and contribute to a team environment with a balanced workload.

·         Lead or participates in corrective actions as necessary to mitigate the likelihood of revenue loss or compliance violations

·         Ensure that all import transactions meet compliance standards set forth by U.S. Customs regulations and other governmental agencies (ATF, EPA, FDA, etc.). 

·         Manage RLF Entry Writers, including Time Cards, Vacations, etc. in ADP.

·         Prepare certain reports, as requested by VP

·         Work closely with VP to make process changes that improve productivity and accuracy in the department

·         Perform Employee Performance Reviews

·         Ensure that Statements/entries are paid timely to avoid late files.

·         Work with branch offices and customers to ensure the smooth flow of entries

·         Ensure that all other government agency releases (especially FDA) are obtained PRIOR to giving release copies to breakbulk.

·         Make sure that all required GISTNET and other training is up to date.

·         Be mindful of ISO, C-TPAT, and other quality/security requirements when performing your job duties.

·         Work cohesively with branches to ensure proper duty amounts are billed to customer.

·         Ensure that high duty entries and statements are confirmed accurate before payment

·         Any other duties as may be determined by VP of Operations.

 

SUPERVISING (Supervisor & Manager Only)

 


·         Responsible for daily supervision of RLF operations to ensure efficient allocation of resources and compliance with policies and procedures

·         Monitor and review employees’ work activities through individual meetings and group meetings to ensure that all work activities are proceeding smoothly to plan. 

·         Delegate and advises employees on work procedures and practices.

·         Motivate, develop and mentor employees for improved performance.

·         Communicates and coordinates information both in writing and orally on a regular basis with both management and staff. 

 

 

 

OTHER & MISCELLANEOUS

 


·         Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.

·         Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management. 

·         Maintains high ethical standards in the work place.

·         Reports all irregular issues and problems to supervisors for solution.

·         Maintains good communication with management, office staff members and outside contacts.

·         Complies with all company policies and procedures. 

·         Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience

·         Associate’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from two year college; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Must have between one and two years of experience in a similar position.

 

Tools & Equipment

·         General office equipment including phones, fax, copier, scanner, personal computer, etc.

·         Software includes the use of Windows operating system, MS Office.

·         Any tools, equipments, software that are required to be used. 

 

Certificates / Licenses

·         This position may require a certified U.S. Customs Brokers License.

·         Any certificate or training records that are required by each department, position/title, or government agency.
