You Will Be
- The Community Cheerleader: You are the face of Sea Mart. You provide the high-energy, "first-and-last" touchpoint service that defines our island hospitality.
- The Precision Technician: You handle guest transactions with speed and accuracy, ensuring that every neighbor is served efficiently and every dollar is accounted for.
- A Safety Sentinel: You maintain the cleanliness and safety of our storefront, ensuring a welcoming environment for our guests in all Sitka weather conditions.
What You Will Do (Entry Level 1 - Core Responsibilities)
- Master the Register: Perform high-speed Point-of-Sale transactions, memorizing produce PLU codes and maintaining an accurate till.
- Practice Wayfinding: Provide legendary service by walking guests to products rather than just pointing, acting as a local guide for our store.
- Maintain Storefront Pride: Execute hourly restroom checks, retrieve carts from the parking lot, and ensure the foyer is clean and organized.
- Execute Safety Protocols: Adhere to all age-restricted sales laws (Alcohol/Tobacco) and follow strict cold-chain safety for items at the check-stand.
Advanced Responsibilities (Specialist Level 2 & Lead Level 3)
Internal promotions to these levels are based on operational need and labor budgeting. Candidates with prior comparable experience may be identified for these tracks.
- Specialist (Level 2): Provides advanced technical support at the Customer Service Desk, manages high-value licenses and rentals, and assists in training new hires on PLU mastery.
- Lead (Level 3): Acts as a peer-mentor on the floor, assists supervisors with front-end flow coordination, and may manage specialized merchandising or procurement tasks for store supplies.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of retail or hospitality experience with a background in "Key Holder" responsibilities or independent shift oversight. We are looking for someone who has already mastered Front End logistics and is ready to apply that knowledge without direct supervision.
- Age Requirement: 19+ Years Old.
- Skills: Ability to perform basic math quickly, memorize codes, and communicate clearly with neighbors and teammates.
Physical Requirements & Environment
- Dynamic Movement: Ability to stand for a 4-8 hour shift, lift up to 50 lbs, and traverse the parking lot in all Southeast Alaska weather conditions.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform repetitive scanning and bagging movements with speed and precision.
- Sensory Awareness: Ability to hear store pages, respond to alarms, and visually inspect products for quality and freshness.
Pay Transparency
- Pay Range: $20.50- $25.50 hourly. Starting rates vary by level, experience, and current operational needs.
- Overtime: This is an hourly position subject to Alaska's 8-hour daily overtime laws.
