- High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
- State of Florida security officer license Class-D.
- Previous Law Enforcement or military experience preferred.
- Prior experience in health care and/or experience in law enforcement/military.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Professional demeanor under highly stressful circumstances.
- Act independently and give direction as well as receive direction from others.
- Computer skills.
- Achieve departmental and hospital goals in providing a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
- Provide 24 hour coverage to hospital patients, employees, and visitors. Including HPC, HHPO, HBS, AMC and other/all off site locations.
- Provide 24 hour assistance as required by administration on call, house managers, department managers, clinical staff and security supervisor’s.
- Make rounds of entire facility lobbies, elevators, exits, hallways, attic, stairwell, parking lots, etc.
- Take proactive measures to prevent theft and incidents.
- Monitor behavior of employees, visitors, and patients to assure safety.
- Member of first responder’s team.
- Maintain training in fire response, disasters, bomb threats, and hazardous materials spills etc.
- Assist with patient restraining and escorting to Psych. Department.
- Escort employees and visitors to vehicles and off site facility locations upon request.
- Transport medical supplies and or staff as requested.
- Investigate incidents, thefts, injuries, and emergency call’s and submits documentation of shift activities to shift supervisors.
- Knowledgeable of law, prosecution liabilities, and safety risks.
- Responsible for driving shuttle bus service for staff and EVAC ambulance service for trauma response on campus.
- Acts independently often making judgments or specific interpretations of hospital and department policies, procedures, and methods relating to safety & security matters.
- Carry out other related duties as they arise and are assigned.
- Participates in the enforcement of hospital policies including the parking policy and tobacco free policy.
