Accountant II

This individual is responsible for the accuracy of cash related deposits and disbursements, data entry, and balancing. They will perform various accounting analyses, as directed by the Accounting Manager.

- BS or BA degree in Accounting or related business degree required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience and experience with computer systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently when necessary. 
- Must have good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle large volume of diversified work.
- Ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively. 
- Knowledge of general ledger functions, with ability to prepare journal entries as necessary.
- Records all cash and credit card receipts on daily basis, as well as reconciling daily cash batches. This includes: 
- all cash and credit card transactions on the bank
- the daily work from PBFS
- hospital checkbook
- Researches and resolves cash issues and bank deposit corrections by contacting the department and following through the issue.
- Researches and resolves credit card disputes and charge backs adhering by the merchant services deadline.
- Records returned checks and sends them to PBFS for posting in timely manner.
- Matches daily deposits with the bank statement deposit dates to insure timely bank deposits and brings any potential problem to the attention of management.
- Prepares monthly journal entries for input to general ledger, to include the following:
- All cash activities
- PBFS EFTs
- Any others as assigned
- Assist with the preparation and reporting of the unclaimed cash and patient valuables.
