The Senior Clinical Data Analyst is responsible for managing the collection, organization and integrity of clinical data required for quality measure reporting and/or clinical service registry reporting. This position acts as a resource and serves as the link between quality measures and public reporting objectives and the core technological capabilities the Digital Technology Services (DTS) Team is building across the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. Responsible for assisting DTS on tool development required for quality measure monitoring and reporting internal and external to HMH.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Senior Clinical Data Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Subject Matter Expert for regulatory, public reported and internal HMH quality measures (i.e. CMS, TJC, etc.).
  • Provides measure expertise and business insights to DTS for data analytics tool development and reporting to ensure measurement methodologies and data dictionaries are reflected accurately.
  • Identifies opportunities for performance improvement based on reliable data trending. Makes recommendations based on recognition and analysis of gaps in documentation.
  • Provides technical assistance to PSQ clinical teams in measuring what matters and move towards patient reported outcomes (PROM).
  • Collaborates with Care pathways in Epic to integrate measures and metrics in those pathways, automating the data abstraction when possible.
  • Maintains the quality measure catalog that provides measure details; rules, criteria, definitions, validation, ways that analytics tools can reference/lookup measures.
  • Maintains clinical quality measurement knowledge through self-development and keeps current on all specification changes relevant to assigned project(s).
  • Supports DTS ensuring Epic data collection and outside data abstraction efforts align in the data warehouse.
  • Support DTS by providing quality assurance for analytics tools utilizing quality measures.
  • Ensures the integrity and accuracy of information extracted or collected and entered into the data collection system.
  • Assesses potential problems affecting the data collection process and coordinates follow-up of problem resolution with the team and/or manager.
  • Learns and understands the varied databases and project related terminology. Participates on all educational sessions and/or webinars.
  • Support to PSQ network teams on data submissions to CMS and TJC and manual data abstraction performed by vendors (Q-Centrix).
  • Oversight for data uploads (Medisolv) provided by DTS.
  • Manages access requests to Epic and/or third-party applications for vendor abstractors.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in health care.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare field or professional degree.
  • Strong skills in analytical methodologies, understanding of databases, and/or spreadsheet, technical writing, quantitative analysis and/or use of statistical principles.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer applications and software for communication (e-mail, scheduling, and remote conferencing), word processing, spreadsheet function, and presentation preparation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to present to various levels within the organization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Experience or knowledge of ICD-10 coding.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of staff.
  • Strong skills in analytical methodologies, understanding of databases, and/or spreadsheet, technical writing, quantitative analysis and/or use of statistical principles.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with ability to handle changing work environments and prioritize activities based on department needs.
  • Detail-oriented and meets quality and productivity standards.
  • Ability and willingness to be cross-trained and become proficient in multiple clinical domains.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience working with Epic.
  • Understanding of national quality performance measurement and reporting, particularly those identified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the State of New Jersey Department of Health, and the Joint Commission.
  • Proficiency in Google applications in particular Google Analytics. 

 

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) certification within three years of hire.

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $95,555.20 Annually

Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization. Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
