What you'll do...The Director, Product Management, plays a crucial role in overseeing a portfolio of products, driving strategic initiatives, setting high standards for execution, and developing product managers. This position is essential for defining and implementing product strategies that foster innovation and growth. The Director works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the design, development and launch of products meet or exceed customer expectations and align with the company’s strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in product management, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of delivering successful products in fast-paced environments.
In this role, the Director manages complex products and programs with significant impact and long-term implementation timelines. They lead and mentor teams of Product Managers, ensuring seamless operations and demonstrating strong business, technology, and financial acumen. The Director translates strategic plans into actionable execution through iterative discovery and delivery, ensuring product outcomes meet business and customer requirements. Additionally, they oversee product budgets, integrate marketing efforts, and champion best practices in product development and discovery.
Day to Day You'll...
- Evangelize and model continuous customer-centric product discovery best practices, emphasizing the critical role of research in order to have a deep understanding of customer problems and needs. Lead and coach teams in navigating desirability, viability, and feasibility to develop high-performing product leaders.
- Articulate a compelling vision based on customer insights and integrate it into the product strategy; support teams in translating into actionable OKRs. Align product vision with business goals, prioritize features and initiatives, and ensure the product delivers value to both the company and its customers.
- Coach teams to become high-performing, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery. Collaborate with leaders to secure necessary resources and drive empowerment through aligned autonomy to the strategy.
- Manage product budgets, implement financial disciplines, and project management standards. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the product ecosystem and create a vision/strategy to achieve both short and long-term objectives.
- Be accountable for and coach product and project work from inception through execution, leveraging Agile, Lean, DevOps, and modern software development principles. Ensure a deep understanding of technical aspects to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, making informed decisions and mentoring teams on technical best practices.
- Model outcome-oriented thinking with effective OKRs, measurement, and accountability to ensure high standards and successful project delivery.
- Enhance team effectiveness in work, development, and growth activities. Drive strategic and tactical alignment with broader organizational strategies. Develop and mentor product leaders to demonstrate Block Behaviors and best practices.
- Build and leverage strong relationships to foster a connected culture. Develop and coach product leaders to ensure high-quality feature delivery and achievement of OKRs.
- Build business cases with P&L impact analysis, market, and opportunity sizing. Understand product portfolio performance and evangelize how products/features drive business value and impact KPIs. Lead with urgency to optimize performance and learnings.
- Drive an elevated perspective on data sourcing, usage, and inquiry. Coach and mentor others to enhance their analytical, testing, and data-driven pursuits, fostering a culture of rapid learning and improvement.
What you'll bring to the team...- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related area, or the equivalent through a combination of education and work experience.
- 10 years of experience in product management to include leading very large mission critical products that involve significant business and technology change.
- 5 years of people management experience. Skilled coach and mentor at developing product management talent and developing a culture of learning and rapid experimentation. Demonstrated ability to manage people effectively, provide straightforward feedback, and focus on team development.
- Experience leading standards and change with technology delivery / software development methodologies (notably Agile, Lean, DevOps).
- Experience leading and being accountable for multiple large teams in a matrix management environment with demonstrated record of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Proven expertise in developing and managing product budgets at a strategic level, ensuring financial discipline and alignment with organizational goals.
- Experience in leading business case development including cost/benefit analysis, NPV, and current and future state assessment.
- Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong presentation and facilitation skills necessary to communicate and influence a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to think strategically, define and communicate a clear vision and roadmap for the product, and lead teams to achieve product outcomes.

- Demonstrated expertise and achievement in the product management space
- Tax or financial industry background
- Experience at a product lead company, ormal product management certifications or training, or equivalent
- Experience in Big 5/6 consulting environment
