About the position 

The Gulfstream Human Factors Engineering (HFE) team works to ensure that Gulfstream's product development process follows a human-centered design approach. The team applies data-driven knowledge about the user's physical and cognitive capabilities and limitations to generate design requirements. These requirements are validated through structured evaluation and support regulatory compliance and certification. The goal of HFE is to ensure Gulfstream's products are safe, easy to use, easy to maintain, maximize total system performance, and are preferred by customers.

  

On any given day, you may: 

  • Perform trade studies on system design concepts and present human factors requirement recommendations to multidisciplinary design teams. 
  • Assist in the design of part task simulation evaluations for detailed design requirement definition using software and physical mockups, or predictive modeling tools. 
  • Work with a Human Factors Engineer to provide project recommendations in selecting and applying appropriate anthropometric modeling tools to design concept analysis. 
  • Apply appropriate data analysis methods (descriptive or inferential statistics). 
  • Assist in the preparation, development, and execution of part task and/or simulator plans that utilize data measurement techniques such as rating scales, questionnaires, and performance measurement calculation. 
  • Document evaluations in final engineering reports. 
  • Assist with validation and verification of requirements. 
  • Utilize industry and/or regulatory committee design guidance and/or regulations to support design aspects. 

 

The following skills are required for an applicant to be qualified for this position: 

  • Prior experience supporting a human factors evaluation/test within a flight simulator with a representative flight deck geometry. 
  • Prior experience performing an analysis of flight deck effects and crew actions resulting from system failures. 
  • Prior experience with statistical analysis of survey, evaluation, and/or test data and the documentation of results within a report or memorandum.  
  • Ability to convey technical and non-technical concepts clearly and succinctly in both written and verbal formats. 
  • Prior industry experience within aviation human factors.

    1. Must be enrolled as a full-time student at the time of application and actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher.
    2. Completion of sophomore year is required. prior to the internship start date.
    3. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (without rounding); must be listed on resume.
    4. Rotation Requirements: Juniors – 2 rotations; Seniors & Graduate Students – 1 rotation.
    5. Minimum duration: 12–14 weeks (summer); 14–16 weeks (spring and fall).
    6. Must be onsite; this is not a remote position.
    7. Must have reliable transportation.
    This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
