We are part of the team responsible for building the Guidewire Cloud Platform, enabling our customers to develop and deploy Guidewire Insurance Platform solutions to the cloud - similar to deploying applications on AWS. Under the hood, the platform is built utilizing the Kubernetes ecosystem for scalability and efficiency.
Our teams develop components for the Cloud Platform as autonomous microservices, primarily using a JVM stack supported by AWS-native services. Our microservice architecture runs on Kubernetes within AWS, managing and storing mission-critical configuration and reference data. We provide consumer-quality interfaces that allow customers to quickly configure Guidewire applications.
Our teams take ownership of all aspects of the software development lifecycle for their services, including architecture, coding, quality assurance, infrastructure, and deployment/upgrade strategies. We embrace agile methodologies to promote collaboration and efficiency across our projects.
This role requires in-office attendance for 10 days per month (specifically, the last week of the month, Monday through Thursday, and for the remaining weeks, Tuesday and Wednesday).
8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including 3+ years in leadership roles managing teams.
Demonstrated success leading teams of 10–20 engineers, specifically in designing and building microservices within cloud-based architectures.
Proven ability to deliver against a long-term technical roadmap, with strong skills in effective communication and providing clarity across stakeholders.
Deep expertise in software engineering best practices, including design documents (RFCs/ADRs), pair programming, automated testing, and code reviews.
A strong sense of curiosity and a passion for continual learning and professional development.
Define and communicate clear team priorities that support the organization’s broader strategic goals; ensure close alignment of strategies, processes, and decision-making across multiple teams.
Lead and develop your teams by providing candid feedback, mentorship, coaching, and effective delegation to foster a high-performing environment.
Champion software development and documentation best practices, ensuring designs meet both technical and business requirements and that projects are delivered on schedule with a high level of quality.
Oversee and validate system designs, ensuring architectural decisions are robust and scalable within the context of broad technical domains.
Collaborate regularly with stakeholders to develop and execute quarterly plans, ensuring alignment and transparency in delivery.
