This position is responsible for the inspection, researching, evaluation, and estimation of repairs in addition to the proper coding of and preparation of billing repair card estimates & documentation required to maintain company, lessee, and customer fleets.
Duties and Responsibilities
Research & inspects incoming cars for defects and/or repairs required in accordance with governing regulations, repair standards, project letters, and customer specifications.
Prepares and completes all paperwork required in conjunction with the write-up of needed repairs ensuring labor and material estimates and proper coding of same.
Identifies repairs and assigns responsibility in accordance with Cathcart’s policies and pricing matrices to ensure estimate correctness, consistency, and profitability.
Interfaces daily with railroads, lessees, outside inspectors, and various marketing groups regarding inspection findings to expedite the repair process.
Participates in and actively supports quality projects and activities and Environmental Safety and Health initiatives to ensure that the Company achieves its goals.
QualificationsQualifications
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years of railroad repair experience preferred.
Detailed knowledge of inspection procedures, railcar construction, and FRA and AAR rules and regulations.
Experience with NDT processes.
Additional training in inspection processes will be required.
Familiarity with AS400, Microsoft Office, and various customer systems.
