Description

Role Summary
As a Product Manager at GS1 Canada, you will help build and lead empowered product teams dedicated to delivering remarkable user experiences and achieving impactful business outcomes. You’ll work closely with the Platform Product Manager, engineering, design, business stakeholders, and end users to define and solve meaningful problems for our customers. You’ll bring innovative product thinking, user empathy, and a collaborative spirit to everything you do.

This role demands a mission-driven professional who excels in product strategy and brings substantial cross-functional expertise in technical product management, engineering, design, and marketing. Your ability to bridge these disciplines, foster collaboration, and synthesize diverse insights into cohesive strategies is central to your success. Your informed knowledge and focus on customer needs drive value through the discovery, design, and delivery of high-impact solutions.

We’re looking for product leaders who can bring best practices, challenge assumptions, and help us build the right things, the right way.

This is a hybrid role, requiring periodic in-person attendance.

Key Responsibilities

User-Centric Leadership:
o    Engage directly with users to uncover needs, pain points, and opportunities.
o    Translate customer insights into validated product ideas and strategic initiatives.

Cross-Functional Expertise
o    Leverage your experience and understanding across engineering, design, and marketing to drive cohesive, integrated product strategies and tactics.
o    Act as a bridge across functions, facilitating clear communication, alignment, and coordinated execution.
o    Have expert knowledge of GS1 standards and GS1 Canada’s solutions, services, and platform.

Vision and Strategic Alignment
o    Develop and champion a compelling, clear, and outcome-focused product vision and roadmap that aligns platform capabilities, features, and APIs with corporate strategic plans and KPIs.
o    Communicate clearly and effectively across the organization, aligning stakeholders and inspiring teams to achieve strategic goals and adopt a product-led approach.

Continuous Discovery and Validation
o    Employ rapid prototyping, experimentation, and iterative feedback loops to validate product assumptions quickly and effectively.
o    Work closely with engineering and design to refine solutions based on user feedback and analytical insights.

Outcome-Driven Execution and Delivery
o    Define clear, measurable objectives focused on meaningful outcomes rather than simply shipping features.
o    Prioritize ruthlessly using data-driven insights, ensuring products continually evolve to maximize business impact and user value.
o    Lead teams in the delivery of value using agile, project, or other methodologies, as required, including the support of sprint planning, backlog grooming, user story creation, UAT and other delivery activities.
o    Collaborate on CI/CD pipeline, monitoring, and incident response with DevOps.
o    Support and guide others in developing core positioning and messaging for the platform and products.
o    Champion delivery through to completion, navigating roadblocks, cross-functional demands, and management expectations, owning both functional and non-functional (scalability, performance, security, compliance) requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence-Driven Leadership
o    Regularly collaborate and build strong relationships with executives, sales, marketing, and customer success teams to integrate their perspectives into product strategies.
o    Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and shared understanding around product decisions and outcomes.
o    Drive complex, cross-team launches through program management rigor (roadmaps, scope management, dependencies, risk management, budgets).
o    Evangelize platform progress and value to executives, partners, and users.

Foster Change
o    Help shape a culture of empowered teams, continuous learning, and customer obsession as a product-centric change agent.
