Responsibilities

Responsible for making contact with all responsible parties on loans through telephonic or written communication in order to determine the cause for delinquency. Provide assistance and suggestions in the plan development to reinstate the member’s obligations through either repayment arrangements or other integrity sales initiatives. Offer recommendations utilizing cross-selling of Credit Union products and services. Makes recommendations to supervisor as to appropriate action considered necessary where the existing circumstances jeopardize the interest of the Credit Union.

Qualifications

Required Skills/ Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate of Arts/Science degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years collections experience and  two years of direct customer service/sales experience required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Debtor/Creditor Collection Law, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and Florida Statutes pertaining to the collection of consumer debts. Familiarization with bankruptcy law beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills; knowledge of bank/credit union consumer, direct and indirect auto loans, credit card and mortgages preferred.
  • Proven ability to identify and evaluate issues and reach sound conclusions or decisions based on fact and in a proactive manner.
  • Excellent telephonic communication, negotiation and analytical skills needed.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) desired.
  • Experience in a call center environment beneficial. Basic to intermediate operational knowledge of general office and PC equipment and the use of automated collection software required. Use of predictive dialing system desired.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and type English.
  • Must be able to hear and use a telephone & headset. 
  • Use of computer requires repetitive keystrokes

Work Environment:

  • Traditional office setting, work from home available.
  • Sedentary role.
  • 10am-7pm EST M-F work schedule that will include weekend (Saturday) hours on occassion.
  • Training hours will be 8am-5pm EST for the first five weeks.
