Location: Calgary, Alberta

Position Type: Full-time Apprenticeship

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday with occasional overtime as required

Hours Per Day: 8 to 10 hours

Job Overview:
GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Indigenous Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our Valued Clients team in Calgary, Alberta. This is a full-time apprenticeship position designed for an Indigenous candidate who is motivated to build a long-term career in the heavy equipment and trades sector while working in a safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist journeyperson mechanics with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty equipment and fleet vehicles

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, and component replacement

  • Learn to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues under supervision

  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records

  • Follow all site safety policies, procedures, and best practices

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Qualifications:

  • Self-identified Indigenous candidate (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)

  • Registered or eligible to register as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice in Alberta

  • Mechanical aptitude and strong interest in heavy equipment and trades

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment

  • Strong commitment to safety and learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with heavy equipment, trucks, or machinery

  • Completion of pre-apprenticeship or trades-related training

  • Basic hand tool knowledge

Work Environment:

  • Shop and field-based work in and around Calgary

  • Exposure to heavy equipment, machinery, and tools

  • Outdoor work may be required in varying weather conditions

  • Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory
