Job Overview:
GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Indigenous Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our Valued Clients team in Calgary, Alberta. This is a full-time apprenticeship position designed for an Indigenous candidate who is motivated to build a long-term career in the heavy equipment and trades sector while working in a safety-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist journeyperson mechanics with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty equipment and fleet vehicles
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, and component replacement
Learn to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues under supervision
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
Follow all site safety policies, procedures, and best practices
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications:
Self-identified Indigenous candidate (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)
Registered or eligible to register as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice in Alberta
Mechanical aptitude and strong interest in heavy equipment and trades
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
Strong commitment to safety and learning
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with heavy equipment, trucks, or machinery
Completion of pre-apprenticeship or trades-related training
Basic hand tool knowledge
Work Environment:
Shop and field-based work in and around Calgary
Exposure to heavy equipment, machinery, and tools
Outdoor work may be required in varying weather conditions
Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory
