Automation Systems Technician II

M-TH 1:30pm - 12:00am

 

 

This candidate will be required to work in a warehouse area, refrigerated areas, and in freezers with temperatures of -30c or colder. This job requires the candidate to continually handle and move boxes and pallets both manually and with automated equipment.  This candidate will be expected to follow established departmental procedures when performing tasks and duties.

 

This position is the point of contact for plasma operations at the Plasma Logistics Center where the incumbent receives raw materials (plasma) from donor centers and controls the flow of materials until they are sent for fractionation, using forklifts and other material handling equipment. As a skilled specialist using the Plasma Management System (SGP), this position supports Supply Chain related projects and provides guidance to peers. This position is responsible for controlling raw material inventory throughout receipt, classification, and distribution.

 

  • Operate automated systems through Human Machine Interface (HMI) to aid in fault recovery.
  • Independently learn and excel at operating multiple inventory control systems, i.e. SAP, SGP, and Savanna.
  • Identify and separate various plasma types and Intermediates for storage in Savanna WMS (Warehouse Management System).
  • Manage plasma inventory, using WMS to maintain redundancy and efficiency during storage and retrieval of raw plasma in the automated freezer.
  • Adapt and perform critical functions under high pressure situations to maintain redundancy features, during automated equipment maintenance, i.e., WMS reconfiguration.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required to identify, troubleshoot and reconcile faults within Automated Systems associated with the Automated Storage and Retrieval System and conveyor system.
  • Interpret and verify freezer work orders as issued from Plasma Management System (SGP).
  • Partner with Facility Maintenance in communicating faulty equipment in detail.
  • Use and understand Radio Frequency Terminal scanner capabilities.
  • Certification required in Fall Protection Training. (Internal Training Provided)
  • Responsible for maintaining CGMP compliance by insuring a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Interpret and follow written procedures.
  • Have clear and structured communication with management both within and outside of department to maintain efficient workflow or resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist Management in problem resolution task completion and resource planning.
  • Work with internal and external customers including Quality, Plasma Operations, and   Logistics to analyze and solve issues that may be related to the storage and handling of pallets and cases.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, i.e. electric pallet jack and fork truck, to make deliveries to on-site customers. Also, knowledge and adherence to safety guidelines for use of material handling equipment.

 

 

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical or other FDA licensed Industry is required.
  • Experience working with cGMPs and Industry Standards
  • Experience in reading, understanding, and following Standard Operating Procedures

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

 

  1. Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  2. Possess basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).
  3. To be able to multitask in a warehouse environment.
  4. Possess good organization skills
  5. Knowledge of cGMP preferred.
  6. Warehouse and/or forklift experience are desirable.

 

OCCUPATIONAL DEMANDS

 

  • Ability to frequently lift 25 to 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures of  -30C or colder
  • Ability to Safely climb 90-foot vertical ladder in -35 degree C environment in order to troubleshoot and solve issues.
  • Capable of performing basic computer skills
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with minimum supervision and able to comprehend detailed directions and execute accordingly.
