Job DetailsJob Location: GRI Towers Texas Inc - Amarillo, TX 79108Position Type: Full-TimeEducation Level: High SchoolTravel Percentage: NoneSafety Technician is responsible for assisting the Safety Department in maintaining a safe working environment by identifying, evaluating, and eliminating potential safety hazards through assisting with safety inspections, assisting with implementations of safety programs, providing safety training to employees, and ensure all employees are practicing safe work habits and wearing all required PPE. They also maintain the confidentiality of written and oral employee information.
Majority of the time is on the production floor, confirming all employees are wearing required PPE and working in the safest manner possible.
Assists in first aid/medical guidance as necessary to injured manufacturing employees.
Maintains individual and daily logs of employee visits including nature of injury or illness, department, treatment administered and time.
Supports the onboarding training processes with new employees.
Compiles safety and health data, records, files, and maintains the necessary records.
Maintains contact with employees with On-the-Job Injuries and the processes involved in such events.
Works closely with line employees as to their health and safety needs and concerns.
Perform administrative work.
Implementing and monitoring the development of internal procedures.
Accompanying foremen and supervisors in safety dialogues (e.g., Daily Tool Box Talk).
Carrying out risk assessment related with tasks and job positions.
Inspection of safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguisher, First Aid kits, Eyewash stations, AED’s).
Maintenance of safety signs, posting or ordering them when necessary.
Availability to work on shifts.
Be involved with the interests of the Internal Safety Committee.
Data entry.
Assists and supports in maintaining records to have current data.
Filing.
Assisting and supports Safety with IPRL.
Other duties as assigned.
Ensuring to keep all information CONFIDENTIAL.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent with combination of Prior Work Experience
Ability to keep all information CONFIDENTIAL.
Specific Knowledge:
Experience understanding internal and external customer needs and exceeding expectations in providing solutions.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Track record of building trust and effective collaborative relationships across teams
Strong complex problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan and organize tasks and information in a fast-paced environment.
Skilled communicator with well-developed listening, verbal, written and presentation abilities.
Able to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
Languages:
Fluent in English
IT / Technical Knowledge:
PC software knowledge including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Technical competency, specifically systems analysis experience
Minimum Experience Required:
Two years of experience in Safety and Health
Required:
Must be willing to work shift work.
Internal Candidates and/or Employees from other GRI factories, are considered competent for this job if they have at least 2 years of experience on similar processes/role.
