Overview

Kalamazoo Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic and service-driven Part-Time Racquets Professional with a primary focus on pickleball instruction, clinics, and member engagement. This position is designed for a developing professional who is not yet fully certified, but possesses the technical skills, playing ability, and interpersonal strengths to contribute effectively to the growing KCC Racquets program.

The ideal candidate is personable, reliable, energetic on court, and committed to delivering a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for players of all ages and skill levels. In addition to on-court responsibilities, the role includes basic stringing services to support the KCC Pro Shop

 

What You’ll Be Doing

On-Court Instruction & Member Engagement

  • Assist in the delivery of pickleball clinics, drills, beginner sessions, and open play supervision.
  • Provide individual and small-group coaching for players across various recreational levels.
  • Support tennis and platform tennis programming as needed.
  • Promote a welcoming, professional, and energetic environment for all members and guests.

Program Support

  • Help execute seasonal racquets programming, events, mixers, and social play formats.
  • Contribute to junior development initiatives, particularly introductory racquets activities.
  • Aid in daily court setup, equipment management, and maintaining clean, organized facilities.

Stringing & Equipment Services

  • Provide basic racquet stringing services for tennis and pickleball paddles (where applicable).
  • Assist with Pro Shop needs including merchandise, gear recommendations, and member support.

Professional Conduct & Team Support

  • Represent KCC Racquets with professionalism and positive energy at all times.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Racquets and professional staff to ensure smooth program execution.
  • Uphold club standards, safety expectations, and service guidelines.

What You Need for this Position

  • Strong playing background in pickleball; competitive experience preferred but not required.
  • Non-certified coaching status is acceptable; KCC will provide guidance and development opportunities for the right candidate.
  • Ability to teach fundamental strokes, scoring, strategy, and movement patterns for recreational players.
  • Prior experience leading or assisting sports instruction is a plus, especially in racquet sports.
  • Capability to perform basic racquet stringing (training can be provided).
  • Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and reliability during scheduled shifts.
