About this role

Job Overview

The Quality Rework Specialist is responsible for processing all returns, all retains, and any damaged product.

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate SAP transactions, including: Hold and release pallet tags, Cycle count tags, Separate pallets and tags for orders applied by GLC production scheduler.
  • Safely operate forklift, including: Get product samples ready to be sent, Track and stage rework, Track and release product holds, Set-up pallets of product for employee cheese sale.
  • Process and coordinate the dispersal and product disposition of all returns.
  • Process all rework through MES.
  • Disperse cheese from the aging and hold report(s) and damaged cheese from shipping dock.
  • Identify and communicate operational and shipping alerts when there is a discrepancy.
  • Enter all returns and cooler damaged product into access data bank for trending.
  • Assist with product retain reviews. 
  • Participate on the mock product recall team.   
  • All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
  • All GLC employees are expected to produce and promote our products and services in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.  
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager. 

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in a business or a technical field and/or 4 years experience or more in a lab or quality setting.  
  • Basic understanding of chemical and physical processes relating to cheese and packaging quality.    
  • Experience in SAP or other ERP system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.  
  • Ability to Operator Powered Industrial Trucks (forklifts).
  • Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.   
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.   

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in food technology or related science degree.

Working Conditions

• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
• Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
• Product weight: up to 50 lbs.
• Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
