About this role

Status: Full-Time, Hourly

Pay: $25-$30 per hour, DOE

Reports to: Shop Foreman

The successful welder will ensure GBI’s success by performing shop fabrication and welding duties in a safe and high quality manner using advanced knowledge and experience. 

PRIMARY DUTIES: (this is not meant to be an exhaustive list of all work being performed) 

  • Complete fabrication projects from start to finish including fitting and welding. 
  • Assist with inspection of assemblies. 
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment. 
  • Perform welding duties in multiple positions using multiple processes. 
  • Assist in job set-up and lay-out duties when needed. 
  • Perform parts set-up and parts clean-up duties when needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  •  Ability to pass the 1G through 3G welding tests. 
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and read tape measurements. 
  • Ability to provide basic fabrication tools as defined in employee handbook. 
  • Must wear all required PPE at all times. 
  • Strong focus on safe work performance. 
  • Proven track record of good work attendance and ability to maintain attendance per company policy. 
  • Ability to perform work in a high quality manner. 
  • Ability to consistently exhibit good work ethic and production standards.
  • Ability to maintain strong housekeeping of work areas including maintenance of company equipment. 
  • Strong ability to work well and interact with others throughout the organization. 
  • Ability to multi-task and to work independently and with minimal direction. 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and in-person using English language. 
  • Ability to represent GBI in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule. 
  • Ability to routinely perform physical duties including but not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, standing and walking for periods of time, working in confined spaces, and occasional work in inclement weather. 
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing as well as pre-employment physical and background check. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  •  Prior education through a high school or trade school welding program.  
  • One to three years prior welding experience in a shop environment (steel plate construction and fabrication industry). 
  • Proficient ability to read and interpret blueprints.
