Maintenance Specialist

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Safely works together with Industrial Maintenance Mechanics to make sure that all building, equipment, and machines are running properly; troubleshoots issues by observing mechanical/electrical devices in operation; removes defective parts by dismantling devices; uses hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools; examines form and texture of parts; determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; documents all maintenance activity.  Understanding and aligning business operations through execution of the role while meeting or exceeding customer expectations and aligning with GPI’s business, cultural, financial, and operation objectives.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3+ years of specialized industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, required
  • Thorough knowledge of basic industrial electricity, high and low voltage, and AC/DC currents
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
  • Possess basic hand tools to complete most tasks; specialized tools will be provided
  • Experience and ability reading blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Basic mathematical skills including all units of measure, fractions, and decimals
  • Takes direction well and can read and comprehend complex detailed instructions and correspondence, delivered verbally and written
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with all levels of personnel (both individually and in a team environment).  Must be able to interface and communicate with line operators and facility personnel to assist with repairs and troubleshooting
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision 
  • Maintains a positive team environment
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and is very detail oriented
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-pace, multi-task manufacturing environment

 

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

  • Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork
  • Ensure production and distribution of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
  • Maintain 5S in assigned area by keeping work area and equipment clean and orderly
  • Manage workload as necessary to ensure production requirements are met
  • Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and preventive maintenance (PM) on a variety of machines
  • Maintain and repair water, gas, air, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Operate industrial lifts (i.e., boom, scissor lifts, etc.)
  • Perform PM functions, per the PM regimen or as directed; lubricate assigned mechanical equipment at specified intervals; Maintain checklists, lubrication lists on other related records as required
  • Install, test, adjust, and repair mechanical systems, electrical systems, and equipment in the facility and warehouses
  • Make necessary measurements, estimate materials required, and requisition supplies as needed through the shift supervisor/manager
  • Perform root cause analysis when problems arise to determine if immediate actions can be taken, or appropriate personnel need to be involved in the process
  • Use computer software to manage length of repair time, repair history, and to inquire about parts information
  • Work at heights and in overhead structures, work beneath machines and in close quarters or confined spaces, performing analysis and repair work
  • Maintain work system tools
  • Follow maintenance schedule and completes necessary reports.
  • Maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Once qualified, instruct and train other Industrial Maintenance Specialists and other maintenance personnel in all aspects of their respective positions
  • Notify the Maintenance Group Leader, Maintenance Supervisors, and/or the Engineering/Maintenance Manager of any issues that arise beyond the scope of the Industrial Maintenance Specialist’s duties
  • Inform appropriate management, operators, and line mechanics of potential mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
  • Communicate effectively with oncoming shifts and all departments
  • Actively participates in daily team production meetings – communicate key items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production, and continuous improvement.
  • Meet required Key Performance Metrics
  • Fulfill overtime requirements as necessary
  • This position works 12 hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned; assisting in other areas as required by changing business needs
