Position:   Facility Maintenance (Level 1)

Schedule: 4 X 10 | 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Shifts: Saturday - Tuesday 

Thursday - Sunday 

Wage: $30.39/hr

Position Overview

Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, this position will be responsible for daily general maintenance upkeep such as the building’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems to ensure a safe, efficient and comfortable environment for building occupants.  Additionally, ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the Gordon Food Service warehouse and office facility. Working collaboratively with the maintenance team in compliance with company standards & specifications and all applicable legislation, regulation codes and standards. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance duties to upkeep the building

  • Conduct routine facility inspections of the building and equipment and identify any issues or safety hazards.

  • Assisting and working alongside technicians with repairs and maintenance projects.

  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored.

  • Assist with setting up boardrooms with necessary equipment needed for events or office changes 

  • Response promptly to attend requests from other departments and emergencies

  • Follow workplace safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Adhere to company policies for maintaining a safe and secure environment.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in operating hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner

  • Comfortable with heights while using equipment

  • Ability to lift, move and carry heavy objects

  • Ability to work in all environments (cooler, dry, and freezer) required.

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions as required 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to collaborate with other departments by building relationships and interacting effectively with all levels.

  • Proficient computer skills and good problem solving skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to identify and manage priorities and follow through on tasks from start to finish

  • High level of personal integrity, strong work ethic, safety orientated and attention to detail

  • Critical Thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to think strategically, analyze, understand the business and solve problems

  • Basic understanding of maintenance tasks 

  • A strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting abilities

  • A team player with good communication skills including written and verbal

  • A strong background in facility preventative maintenance would be an asset

  • Other professional certificates and schooling would be an asset 

  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, racking, carpentry, welding and hydraulics is an asset

  • No formal written discipline.

  • Availability for nights and weekends
