About this role

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience managing portfolios within a technology, product, or engineering environment (e.g., infrastructure, software development, or technical operations).
  • Experience utilizing data to manage executive reporting and governance (e.g., leading Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), tracking OKRs/KPIs, presenting portfolio health dashboards, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure efficiency programs involving hardware and software interdependencies (e.g., data center power utilization, fleet-wide compute/storage optimization, or hardware lifecycle management).
  • Experience applying technical judgment to complex engineering programs within domains such as Machine Learning (ML) infrastructure, network infrastructure, or distributed systems.
  • Experience driving resource efficiency or sustainability initiatives to deliver measurable impact (e.g., carbon footprint reduction, power usage effectiveness (PUE), or energy-efficient computing).
  • Experience communicating strategic investment decisions, technical risks, and trade-offs to executive leadership and cross-functional partners.

As an Operations Program Manager for MSCA, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence across our infrastructure, software, and hardware engineering teams. You will be instrumental in streamlining planning and execution processes towards our resource efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:

  • Drive improvements to product development, planning, and operational processes to increase velocity, ensuring successful adoption across the organization.
  • Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders across ML, Systems, and Cloud AI PMO, including partners in Engineering, Finance, and Product/Strategy. 
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate risks, leveraging governance forums and monthly reporting to ensure leadership visibility.
  • Develop operational tools and dashboards to provide transparent metrics on resource management and portfolio health.
  • Manage cross-functional programs and initiatives, focusing on prioritizing deliverables, setting deadlines, and driving day-to-day execution.
