Store Associate


Summary Description:

The Store Associate position’s primary purpose is to assist store management in the daily operation of the assigned retail store. Store Associate reports to the Store Manager or Assistant Manager in the Manager’s absence.   

 

Exemplary Duties / Responsibilities:

  • The Store Associate assists customers.  
  • Stocks and rotates merchandise.        
  • Runs the cash register as assigned.  
  • Responsible for the accuracy of transactions when assigned to register and adherence to company check and credit card procedures.  
  • Report safety hazards and all accidents to Manager or Assistant Manager IMMEDIATELY.  
  • Maintains the store in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, which may include daily floor mopping and related tasks as assigned.  
  • Assist in receiving new merchandise and processing incoming merchandise.  
  • Provide customer service in a positive, professional, and courteous manner.  
  • The Store Associate may be cross trained for other retail functions and required to perform assigned tasks to standards.  
  • Answer the telephone in a courteous manner.  
  • Attends general store meetings as assigned.  
  • Attends general departmental and safety meetings as required.  
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing 
  • Understanding of rendering customer service and working with the public is desirable.
  • Able to answer the telephone.
  • Use of cash register and calculator /10 key necessary. 
  • Accuracy of work is essential.
  • Able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 lbs.
  • Cooperation with store personnel, direct supervisors, and Division Director.  
  • Ability to serve customers effectively.
  • Quantity and quality of work performed.
  • Accuracy of records maintained.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to special needs.
  • Ability to serve the public professionally and courteously. 
  • Ability to follow simple instructions.
  • Appearance and organization of assigned workstation.
  • Ability to perform some janitorial duties.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bilingual is a plus.
