About this role

Overview

Develops, manages, and improves projects, processes, and people in Goodwill’s rapidly expanding sustainability efforts. Extracts maximum value from Goodwill donations and manages recycling programs for donations that cannot be reused. Continuously provides hands-on direction and coaching to staff to meet and exceed daily goals. Teams with leaders throughout Goodwill to drive organizational objectives, providing optimal solutions and outstanding customer service. Maintains and analyzes data and key performance indicators. Builds extraordinary teams through training, coaching, and discipline. Develops a workplace culture that models Goodwill’s values.

As a Goodwill manager, you are an organizational leader responsible for creating a high-performing work environment that results in positive Team-member experiences, excellent customer service, and an overall successful operation that supports the organization’s mission. Managers model passion for work, strong, positive leadership skills, and are effective coaches to their direct reports. Managers are expected to understand program and divisional objectives and meet established goals including revenue, profit, and expense control. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Achieves established volume, time, and quality goals for all sustainability-related projects and processes.2. Closely and continuously directs and coaches staff in all daily operations to meet and exceed goals.3. Thoroughly understands all key performance indicators (KPIs). Accurately records data related to all KPIs. Produces analyses and reports for supervisor and other organizational leaders.4. Continuously monitors processes and provides recommendations for improvement.5. Emphasizes excellence in building outstanding teams through training, coaching, and discipline.6. Works effectively as a partner with leaders throughout Goodwill to attain organizational objectives. Makes every effort possible to provide effective options to solve problems. Constantly models exceptional customer service with internal stakeholders and external customers.7. Provides support and advice for potential new projects. Serves as project leader as assigned.8. Models and promotes cultural best-practices based on Goodwill values.9. Understands and monitors P&Ls and other business metrics. Provides recommendations for optimizing financial performance. Closely monitors and controls expenses.10. Effectively utilizes multiple software applications that support sustainability-related programs.11. Prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and property in all work activities. Follows all prescribed safety and security practices and quickly addresses any potential lapses in safety or security, working with leaders throughout the organization as needed.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:1. Oversees and manages inventory of all equipment and supplies for sustainability-related programs. Ensures appropriate maintenance and repair of equipment.2. Provides management support for Goodwill Transportation Department.3. Performs other duties as directed.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:This position has supervisory responsibility for multiple Team members, including managers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:1. High school diploma.2. At least 5 years’ work experience in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.3. Proven track record of successful leadership, good judgment, and goal achievement in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.4. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.5. Strong basic math and computer skills, particularly with the use of Microsoft Excel, and Word.

 

Preferred Qualifications:1. Bachelor’s degree.2. At least 5 years’ experience as a manager with supervisory and budget responsibilities in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.3. Previous experience using warehouse heavy equipment, such as forklifts, pallet stackers, and balers.4. Experience in retail and after-retail programs within the thrift industry.5. Understanding of, and enthusiasm for, environmental sustainability programs, practices, and challenges.
