Job Summary

Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP), a maternal and early childhood home visiting program, fosters long-term success for first-time parents and their babies and seeks to address some of the serious systemic problems affecting our community. Mental health support is identified as a critical component of the NFP model.  In the Indianapolis site, 15% of clients self-report mental health issues as a chronic health condition on intake.  84% of nurses reported that some of the families they serve have adult mental health issues.  The impact of this on parent-child interaction is clear, and concerning.  30% of nurses said most of their families have challenges with parent-child interaction, and 62% report that some families have challenges.  The NFP Mental Health Clinician provides telehealth support to clients who their Nurse Home Visitor assesses as needing counseling by a qualified mental health specialist.
