About this role

The Senior Director of Organizational Development at Goodwill Central Texas leads enterprise-wide learning, leadership development, performance management, and succession planning initiatives. This role partners closely with executive leadership to build organizational capacity, strengthen leadership pipelines, and support a high-performing, mission-driven workforce. The ideal candidate brings strategic vision, strong collaboration skills, and experience developing leaders and talent at scale.

This position is eligible for Goodwill Central Texas’ Management Incentive Plan (MIP), with a target bonus of 15% of eligible base salary.

 

Organizational Development & Strategy

  • Create and sustain an environment and culture that reflects and advances the organization’s mission, vision, and values. 
  • Develop initiatives aligned with the objectives and overall strategy of Goodwill Central Texas. 
  • Create functional strategies and specific objectives that deliver outcomes aligned with organizational strategic initiatives. 
  • Develop policies and procedures that support a strong organizational development infrastructure. 
  • Live out organizational values and serve as an ambassador of the culture.

 

Learning & Professional Development

  • Develop and oversee the design, planning, and implementation of training and professional development programs.
  • Build a company-wide learning platform that supports front-line, professional, and executive-level employees.
  • Embed diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in all learning and development initiatives. 
  • Establish measurement systems to assess effectiveness, outcomes, and return of investment on learning strategies. 
  • Evaluate existing programs to determine future viability and recommend improvements or changes. 
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to continuously enhance training and development programs. 
  • Influence key leaders to support and execute learning and development objectives.

 

Leadership Development

  • Design and implement leadership development programs to strengthen leadership capability at all levels. 
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify leadership competencies aligned with organizational needs. 
  • Support development of high-potential employees through targeted development plans.

 

Performance Management

  • Lead the design and implementation of the organization’s performance management framework.
  • Align individual, team, and organizational goals. 
  • Strengthen performance coaching and accountability practices.

 

Succession Planning

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive succession planning strategy. 
  • Identify critical roles and succession pipelines. 
  • Prepare internal talent for future leadership roles. 

 

Partnerships, Budget & Compliance

  • Build internal and external partnerships. 
  • Manage departmental budget. 
  • Maintain CARF accreditation requirements. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities over the Organizational Development team.  

 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • At least five years of experience in a training, teaching, or curriculum development role.
  • Extensive experience in diversity, inclusion, and employee engagement plan design and execution.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, ability to think and communicate information visually, comfort and presence in public speaking, managerial confidence, diplomacy.  
  • Excellent public speaker with the ability to speak on a variety of topics unrelated to training.
  • Experience in using all types of communication medica, including print, electronic and face to face.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders exercising sound judgment, interpersonal and political sensitivity, and business acumen. Ability to manage matrix or outside resources to accomplish work.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, develop and implement strategic plans that span the organization.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with track record of delivering on multiple, concurrent commitments with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to energize and motivate others. Ability to operate effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and database management.
  • Experience leading and developing a team.

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Light work that includes lifting and moving objects up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate with others to exchange information.
  • Ability to assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Ability to cope with and tolerate moderate levels of stress is also a necessity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
