Summary:

The Curriculum Developer (CD) supports the National Guard Bureau (NGB) J1 Military & Family Readiness Staff Training (MFRST) program by designing, developing, evaluating, and maintaining high-quality instructional materials for adult learners. The CD applies established learning theories and instructional design methodologies to create effective, engaging, and mission-aligned training products that support Military and Family Readiness personnel across the National Guard enterprise.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design, develop, and update curriculum and instructional materials to support Military & Family Readiness staff training initiatives
  • Apply adult learning theory, educational psychology, and instructional design best practices to the systematic development of training programs
  • Develop instructional strategies, learning objectives, lesson plans, and training materials aligned with program requirements
  • Create and refine instructional products, including instructor guides, participant materials, assessments, and supporting training aids
  • Conduct educational evaluations to assess instructional effectiveness, including development of written and performance-based assessments and survey instruments
  • Analyze evaluation data to determine reliability and validity of instructional products and recommend improvements
  • Identify learner characteristics and training needs to ensure instructional materials are appropriate, effective, and mission-focused
  • Validate and revise instructional materials based on stakeholder feedback, evaluation results, and program requirements
  • Collaborate with government and contractor stakeholders to ensure curriculum alignment with NGB J1 priorities and MFRST objectives
  • Maintain documentation and version control of curriculum materials in accordance with contract requirements

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • A strong understanding of NG Military and Family Readiness programs, Financial
  • Readiness and Education programs, Employment Assistance Programs, Transition Assistance Program and the ANG and ARNG structure at the state level
  • Interpersonal skills and team building skills to effectively take part in instructional duties for National Guard Military and Family Readiness Program staff instruction
  • Knowledge of standing operating procedures and the ability to interpret guidance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Teams, Forms, Power Point, Excel, Word
  • Shall ensure virtual and in-person classrooms meet safety, security, comfort, and hygiene standards
  • Strong organizational skills
  • All applicants shall possess interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Have professional certifications in a field of instructional design, curriculum and instruction, education (with a focus on curriculum and instruction), or equivalent field and have a combination of at least ten years of education and experience in curriculum development and instruction for adult learners. The CD shall have completed course work or possess experience that includes the following four areas:
    • Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
    • Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.
    • Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
    • Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training.
  • At least five years of experience in adult curriculum development, staff training, and the four numbered areas
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and must be able to drive a rental car
  • Be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and delivering curriculum in support of Military, National Guard, DoD, or Military & Family Readiness programs

 

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $110,00.00 annually.
