
Job DetailsJob Location: PARK MAINTENANCE - Brunswick, GA 31520Salary Range: $22.83 HourlyJob Shift: DayThis is a full-time position and receives all benefits afforded to regular employees. Park Maintenance operates 365 days a year. Holidays and events require flexibility in scheduling.
Summary: This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the maintenance of county parks and recreation facilities.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repairs of sports fields and courts, parks, beach accesses, playgrounds, and related facilities.
Prioritizes and coordinates work assignments; provides direction and guidance to assigned staff; monitors work in progress and upon completion; resolves complex work issues.
Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of building and facilities; supervises and performs electrical and plumbing system repairs; supervises and participates in carpentry construction and repair activities.
Supervises and participates in the repair of irrigation systems and water lines.
Supervises and participates in the custodial clean of department facilities.
The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
Supervises and participates in the maintenance of park grounds, including mowing, trimming, and landscape maintenance and repair.
Supervises and participates in the operation of a variety of tools and equipment; inspects vehicles and equipment and performs routine maintenance; transports equipment, tools, and materials to and from work sites.
Maintains equipment and materials inventory; makes purchases as needed.
Supervises and participates in beach maintenance activities.
Performs related duties.
The employee will work a flexible schedule that will include some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
The employee is a Category 1 employee for emergency preparedness and response.
Minimum Qualifications & Benefits
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
