Memphis (Hybrid) or Remote (For remote positions, Global Cellulose Fibers will consider residents of the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.)

 

About The Role:

The Network Data Architect is responsible for overseeing the designing of the organization’s network infrastructure end-to-end. This includes all routing, switching, and LAN/WAN/SD-WAN components, as well as ensuring optimal network performance enterprise-wide. In this role, you will work closely with outsourcing partner architects and outsourcing ops teams to plan and implement network solutions that meet our business needs and technical standards. You will serve as the company’s technical lead for data network technologies, representing our interests in discussions with the outsourcer and vendors, ensuring the network architecture is high-performing, resilient, and aligned with best practices. Strong experience with Cisco networking is required (CCNP-level proficiency), and familiarity with Azure cloud networking services (virtual networks, VPN/ExpressRoute) is highly preferred for hybrid network integration.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Architecture & Design
    • Design LAN/WAN/SD‑WAN architectures using OSPF/BGP and resilient switching for campus and branch sites.
    • Engineer site connectivity via SD‑WAN, broadband, wireless, and satellite to ensure high availability.
    • Build diagrams and technical specs, supporting current and future network growth.
  • Vendor Collaboration & Outsourcer Oversight
    • Partner with outsourcer architects / vendor engineers to align standards and solutions.
    • Review and approve proposed routing, switching, and WAN designs for compliance and quality across provider‑led implementations.
  • Network Implementation & Troubleshooting
    • Guide outsourcers deploying Cisco switches, SD‑WAN appliances, and Meraki wireless.
    • Create detailed requirements for changes and lead resolution of complex issues.
  • Performance Optimization
    • Identify and resolve performance constraints using monitoring telemetry.
    • Tune routing and WLAN configs to drive low latency, high throughput, and reliability.
  • Integrating Cloud Networking
    • Architect secure Azure connectivity using VPNs gateways, and hybrid WAN designs.
    • Apply Azure services (VNETs, Firewall, etc.) in alignment with architecture policies.
  • Network Security & Compliance
    • Design segmentation, ACLs, and firewall placements to protect critical assets.
    • Validate configurations and support audits and ensure security standards compliance.

 

About You: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering/architecture, with a track record of designing and implementing LAN/WAN/SD-WAN networks with CCNP-level knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred (or equivalent work experience). 
  • Microsoft certifications, demonstrating validated knowledge in cloud networking, a plus.
  • Evaluate emerging tech for business value - virtualization, PLTE, Wi‑Fi 6/6E, AI, Python, etc.
  • Develop roadmaps and scalable designs supporting growth and lifecycle management.
  • Maintain diagrams, inventories, IP schemas, and failover documentation with accurate updates.
  • Define and enforce standards, templates, and naming conventions across all deployments.
  • Develop runbooks and training to strengthen team capability on advanced networking topics
  • Mentor engineers and elevate operations teams’ troubleshooting proficiency.
  • Multi-vendor experience with networking equipment and network management, a plus.
