At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.

 

We have an new exciting and career defining opportunity for an Indirect Buyer to join our indirect Procurements teams. We are looking to hire a Junior Buyer, you don't necessarily need experience in procurement and supply chain, we're looking for someone who will be able to grow within the function with support from the business and an option to complete your CIPS qualifications.

 

The Indirect Procurement team is responsible for managing all capital expenditure and non product related goods & services across the site ensuring requirements are met on time and in accordance with the appropriate quality standards, through a highly capable and cost effective supply base in line with the strategic direction of the Global Commodity Team.

 

The Buyer shall ensure that materials and services are placed on order in accordance with Procurement & site processes and available in line with Customer requirements, resolving any issues in a timely manner. 

Job Responsibilities

•    Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures.
•    Placing orders with suppliers in accordance with framework contracts & SRM Carts.
•    Requesting and assessing bids from suppliers if framework contracts are missing.
•    Stakeholder management (internal and external)
•    Issue resolution within all stages of the procurement process.
•    Monitoring, analysing and where possible, taking measures to improve suppliers' delivery performance.
•    Making proposals regarding organisation and process improvement.
•    Actively looking for opportunities to minimize work, lead times and capital requirements.
•    Supporting Global Category Strategies.
•    Ensuring Contractual Compliance.

For this position we aren’t looking for direct buying experience, we are looking for a strong positive mindset and good commercial acumen.

Essential

  • High capacity to utilise the MS Office suite and eager to learn new systems.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent initiative.

 

Desirable

  • Supply chain management experience and skills.
  • Experience working in Procurement and preferably some experience of Indirect Procurement.
  • MCIPS Qualification or studying towards.
