Purpose
Leads the implementation of large-scale manufacturing investment from business case and technical design through to successful on-site execution/operational readiness and commissioning – aligning with company standards, sustainability goals and local regulatory requirements, while developing internal capabilities to deliver and support best in class Engineering/Maintenance.

 

Core Responsibilities
Strategy design and execution
•    Contributes to the design of site vision and master plan to support long-term growth and production capacity 
•    Prepares business cases, designs related project plans and coordinates their execution upon approval by sponsor(s) and steering committee(s).

Project management
•    Manage capital projects and studies for large scale projects or multiple process (technical solutions, number of disciplines, contractors).
•    Develop project scopes, cost estimations, credit applications and specifications, etc.…
•    Responsible for all design and construction parameters, respecting all norms and regulations and EHS.
•    Sets parameters for project execution, including timing, detailed cost estimate, list of deliverables.
•    Consistently employ a Continuous Improvement mindset, incorporating state of the art technology, automation and sustainability practices throughout site development
•    Requests dedicated resources for project planning and execution.
•    Produce all required design and process documents.
•    Manage dedicated resources as per project assignment (internal and external).
•    Co-lead tender process with suppliers and contractors.
•    Implement and apply appropriate project monitoring tools (cost and resources).
•    Run regular reporting to higher management and stakeholders.
•    Support Project management in action and contingency planning.
•    Support project management in resource planning.
•    Runs hazard studies, risk assessments and process optimisations.
•    Establishes control of contractors on site for the projects managed.
•    Establishes budgetary control for approved projects.
•    Executes the project plan(s) within approved budget.

 

People management

•    Contributes to the annual human resources processes by providing input to line managers regarding performance of project team members.
•    Works with the respective line managers and HR Business Partner(s) in developing a project management capability in the Engineering function and the project.
•    Contributes to the development and promotion of functional talents within and outside the Engineering function and the project.

Academic Background

•    Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline.
•    Plant Engineering or Maintenance Certification.
•    Project Management Certification.

 

Professional Experience

•    7 to 10 years of experience in engineering and/or operations, including management of engineering projects and onsite operations involving resources from diverse disciplines.
•    2 to 5 years of progressive experience in people management.

 

Technical Skills

•    Proven track record leading complex manufacturing/industrial projects and demonstrated proficiency in project management.
•    Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems, facility design, and project governance.  
•    Proficiency in using TPM, KPI, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and project controlling tools.
•    Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.  
•    Good knowledge of EHS rules and guidelines.
•    Good knowledge of financial concepts (e.g. OPEX, CAPEX) and tools (e.g. SAP).
