GFT is seeking an Intern to join our Transportation Team in Toronto! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

In this role, you will work closely with our public transit team at GFT. Working with the public transit team means shaping the future of transportation, delivering projects that improve mobility, safety, and accessibility for millions of passengers nationwide. Specializing in rail systems, bus rapid transit, and zero-emission mobility solutions, our experts combine deep technical knowledge with innovative thinking to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of transit networks. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

 

  • Prepares simple engineering and construction drawings from sketches or verbal instructions, utilizing manual or computer-assisted drafting/design techniques.
  • Prepares drawings from markups, charts, and tables.
  • Prepare quantity calculations based on engineering plans.
  • Performs related fundamental engineering support tasks such as updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, etc.
  • Supports field assignments as required including inspections for construction projects and structural condition assessments.

What you will bring to our firm:  
  • Intern must be an undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited Engineering program.
  • Must have a focus and interest in Civil, or Structural Engineering.

  • Must demonstrate ability to perform in a team environment.
  • May require outside work in a variety of weater conditions.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing.
  • Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork.
Compensation: The hourly range for this role (2nd year student) is $25.00 - $27.00. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.  Featured Benefits:
