About this role

GFT is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller Assistant to support our drilling crews for geotechnical, environmental and structural subsurface investigations, as well as select materials quality/quantity audits. This role is located in Ebensburg, PA.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

This role is needed to supplement our expanding drilling operations. We offer pertinent training to entry-level candidates and encourage experienced assistants who wish training for advancement to apply.  The ideal candidate is a self-starting and motivated individual who can perform with minimal supervision, be a team player, and one who takes pride in their work.

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Work under the direction of the Driller to perform drilling operations in very diverse subsurface conditions and terrain.
  • Assist the team in the maintenance, inspection and repair of vehicles and drilling equipment in the shop and field.
  • Load and transport drilling equipment and materials to and from project sites as required.
  • Meet production requirements and utilization goals.
  • Communication with project managers, drillers; inspectors, clients, and supervisors., as required.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance, repair and general condition of the drill rigs and other equipment.
  • Consistent promotion and adherence to safe work practices, including the use of required personal protective equipment and compliance with site safety plans.
  • Operation of DOT regulated vehicles and all responsibilities as required to stay in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, including record keeping.
  • Travel is required, including occasional weekends and extended periods. All travel expenses, including travel time, are paid.

 

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid PA Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform high quality work in an efficient and productive manner
  • Must be able to work safely and efficiently outdoors in all types of weather
  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs. repetitively and safely
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in a team atmosphere

  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency working with hand/power tools and associated mechanical skills
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • CDL License a plus
