Join GFT an award-winning architecture, engineering, and construction firm, as an Entry Level Traction Power Engineer in our Valley Forge, PA or Philadelphia, PA offices. This position follows a hybrid-remote work format, with 3 days required on site per week.

Specializing in rail systems, bus rapid transit, and zero-emission mobility solutions, our experts combine deep technical knowledge with innovative thinking to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of transit networks. Together, we're transforming urban landscapes, reducing environmental impact, and connecting communities through state-of-the-art public transportation infrastructure. Explore some of our signature public transit projects here. What you’ll be challenged to do:As a Traction Power Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of traction power systems for rail and transit projects, performing engineering calculations, creating design layouts, and supporting field assessments. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to help deliver efficient and effective transportation solutions.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Contribute to the design and development of traction power systems for railway and transit infrastructure.
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations such as load analysis, power distribution, and energy efficiency evaluations.
  • Assist in creating detailed design layouts and technical drawings using engineering software.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure system compatibility and integration.
  • Participate in field surveys, site assessments, and support the preparation of reports, technical documents, and specifications.

What you'll bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 0-2 years of experience in transit & rail, or related electrical engineering tasks.
  • Applied experience in traction power systems, including concepts in electrical distribution, railway electrification, and power system efficiency.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation or equivalent modeling software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a collaborative engineering environment.

 

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $75,000- $95,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
