About this role

GFT is seeking a Document Control Specialist to join our Power Team in one of the following offices Charlotte, NC, Pittsburgh, PA, Martlton, NJ, Chicago, IL, St. Louis, MO! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regualr attendance at one of those office locations.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

  • Support Project Managers and functional team leaders with the management of company and client documents throughout all phases of power‑sector projects.
  • Compile required documentation for new and active projects in accordance with client standards and project requirements.
  • Retrieve documents from a variety of client document management systems (e.g., ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud).
  • Distribute documentation and project information to appropriate team members promptly and accurately.
  • Perform document submissions to client systems while ensuring adherence to established workflows.
  • Maintain the accuracy, quality, and integrity of all documents, including version control, approvals, and archiving.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain documents according to company and client document lifecycle procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain electronic and hard‑copy project folders, including contracts and vendor/contractor documentation.
  • Participate in project audits as requested by Project Managers.
  • Assist in project progress meetings, tracking items such as RFIs, submission deadlines, drawing requests, and schedule‑related updates.
  • Communicate document status, submittal timing, and relevant updates under the direction of Senior Document Control Specialists or Project Managers.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritize work.
  • Technological proficiency, including the use of platforms for communication, document tracking, and reporting.
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and coordinate with team members in other offices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet business needs (occasionally).
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and clients at multiple locations and occasionally from a home office.

 

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • High school diploma.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in document control or administrative support on engineering, utilities, or construction projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment..
  What we prefer you bring:
  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Experience supporting engineering or power‑sector project teams.
  • Familiarity with document platforms such as ProjectWise or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Basic understanding of project documents, engineering drawings, and project workflows.
  Compensation:The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000.
