At geocgi we pride ourselves on not losing our focus. We started out and remain GIS experts (or geeks. . . depending on your perspective). Since 2006, we’ve evolved into a world-class and world-wide service provider of multiple disciplines. We are a talented, hardworking group that share values and characteristics that drive client, professional, and personal success. Geocgi is looking for a GIS Architect to support our client, United States Department of State Bureau of Diplomatic Security. The candidate will provide technical leadership for the design, implementation, and sustainment of enterprise geospatial systems. This position is a hybrid role, primarily home-based with expectation of one in-person day per week at United States Department of State facilities in Rosslyn, Virginia, USA.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Design, integrate, and implement enterprise GIS architectures, including ArcGIS Enterprise and GeoEvent Server, to support operational, analytical, and real-time geospatial workflows.
•    Architect, deploy, and maintain high-availability and resilient GIS environments, including redundancy, load balancing, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations.
•    Apply broad IT expertise across networking, security, server and desktop environments, enterprise applications, and web technologies to ensure stable and secure system operations.
•    Design, optimize, and operate cloud-based GIS solutions in Microsoft Azure, including compute, networking, identity, and cloud-native storage services.
•    Implement and maintain automated deployments across multiple environments (development, test, staging, production) using Azure DevOps.
•    Develop and support automation solutions using PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC), Python, and other scripting tools.
•    Plan and execute system upgrades and version migrations for complex GIS and IT environments, including risk mitigation and rollback strategies.
•    Manage Esri enterprise licensing, including entitlement planning, compliance, optimization, and coordination with vendors and customer stakeholders.
•    Collaborate with customer cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure GIS solutions comply with applicable federal security requirements.
•    Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, deployment standards, and migration roadmaps.

As an employee of geocgi, the GIS Architect will have access to a generous benefits package, in addition to a corporate culture and community of GIS geeks. Our benefits include but are not limited to:
•    Competitive salaries, commensurate with experience and leading Federal Contractors in the geospatial industry.
•    Opportunities for upward mobility in a dynamic fast paced environment within a small company.
•    Merit-based spot and end of year bonuses.
•    Safe Harbor 401(k) plan with immediate vesting.
•    Flexible work hours and PTO.
•    Complete Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for individuals.
•    Company paid training, certifications, and professional growth and development.

The following are requirements of the GIS Architect:
•    U.S. Citizen
•    DoD Secret Clearance
•    Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in enterprise GIS architecture, systems engineering, or related IT disciplines.
•    Demonstrated experience designing, integrating, and implementing Esri ArcGIS Enterprise solutions, including distributed and high-availability architectures.
•    Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including optimization and configuration of cloud solutions for enterprise workloads.
•    Experience with Azure DevOps (or similar) for CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and environment management.
•    Proficiency with PowerShell, PowerShell DSC, Python, or comparable automation and scripting tools.
•    Broad experience across IT disciplines, including networking, security, server and desktop installation, enterprise applications, and web technologies.
•    Proven experience planning and executing version upgrades and migrations for large, complex systems.

The following are preferred of the GIS Architect:
